The weather has not been kind to MSU athletics this season.
After the first two football games of the season were delayed due to rain, the MSU men’s soccer team faced their second rainout of the season when they traveled to University of Detroit Mercy Wednesday afternoon.
The Green and White scrimmage was cancelled due to rain earlier this season as well.
MSU was up 1-0 after 45 minutes when Detroit conceded an own goal off a free kick from sophomore midfielder Sean Conerty.
But the rain and lightning that rolled in was too much for the game to continue.
Because the game wasn’t a conference matchup, it will not be made up and the result will not count against either team’s record.
The next time the Spartans are in action is Sunday in Marquette, Wisc. when they take on Marquette at 4 p.m.
