MSU to host 2013 World Dwarf Games

July 11, 2013

This August, MSU’s campus will play host to a world of champions for the 2013 World Dwarf Games.
The games will include more than 400 athletes, with more than half from the United States. The event encompasses 13 sports, such as archery, swimming and badminton, and will last from Aug. 3-10.

The first dwarf athletic event was held at MSU in 1983. Previous World Dwarf Games have been held in Chicago, Canada and England.

Events are split by classification, based on each athlete’s age, height and body proportion. Although dwarfism typically consists of adults with a height of 5 feet or less, it also includes those who are proportional and 4-feet-10 or less because of medical reasons.

Although most events will be held on MSU’s campus, the swimming portion of the competition will be held at Mason High School. Admission to the games are free and open to the public.
