As the regular season winds down, the MSU women’s basketball team stuck to what got it to 20 wins this season for the 10th-consecutive year: balanced scoring and defense.
The Spartans went on the road and avenged an earlier loss to Purdue by sinking the No. 25 Boilermakers 68-61 on Thursday night. It was MSU’s first win over a ranked team this season after dropping its previous four attempts.
Purdue was held scoreless for the final three-plus minutes of each half by the best scoring defense in the Big Ten.
Junior forward Annalise Pickrel had a game-high 18 points to lead a trio that included guards Jasmine Thomas, a senior, and junior Klarissa Bell that accounted for more than 76 percent of MSU’s points.
