College Park, Md. – After 20 minutes of play, the fifth seeded MSU women’s basketball team trails fourth seed Maryland 34-23.
There was no stopping the Terrapins back-to-back ACC player of the year, Alyssa Thomas, who ended the half with 18 points and 3 rebounds.
Junior forward Annalise Pickrel led the Spartans in scoring with 7 points. Junior guard, and MSU leading scorer, Klarissa Bell failed to score a point, but grabbed 5 rebounds.
MSU went 11-27 (41 percent) from the floor, while Maryland shot 15-29 (51.7 percent).
Maryland went on a 12-2 run with just over 10 minutes left in the half, but MSU closed the gap, going on an 8-2 run with just over a minute to play.
