Maryland blows out MSU, 74-49, in second round of women's NCAA Tournament

College Park, Md. – Alyssa Thomas gave the Spartans all they could handle in a 74-49 loss Monday night at Comcast Center in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The two time ACC player of the year for Maryland was dominant throughout the game, scoring 28 points, grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists before coming out of the game to a standing ovation with just over four minutes to play.

Junior forward Annalise Pickrel and sophomore forward Becca Mills led the Spartans with 12 points apiece.

In their final game as Spartans, seniors Courtney Schiffauer and Jasmine Thomas scored four and six points, respectively.

The Terrapins shot the lights out in the second half, going 13-27 from the floor including 5-7 from beyond the arc.

The Spartans, who made it to their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament, end the season with 25-9 record, with a fourth place finish in the Big Ten.
