A federal court judge issued an injunction, ruling in favor of the State of Michigan to stop the development of a casino in downtown Lansing, according to MLive.com.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert Jonker issued the ruling, stopping the $245 million casino Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians announced in January 2012.
The injunction stops the plans from being taken into trust, which is the next step to allow gaming on the site, according to MLive.com.
It still must be determined whether there is a unique provision that allows the tribe to be exempt from state rules, which could help the casino plans come to fruition.
