Five Spartans scored in double figures as the MSU women’s basketball rolled over UT Arlington 83-39 in their first regular season game of the season.

Junior guard Klarissa Bell lead all scorers with 19 points, but also chipped in with six assists and eight rebounds in 33 minutes of play.

Junior forward Annalise Pickrel ended the game with 18 points and gave the Spartans the momentum in the second half with a trio of three pointers.

At the beginning of the second half, senior forward Courtney Schiffauer went down with an injury before going to the locker room and getting her ankle looked at. She would return to the game to score nine points and grab five rebounds.

The MSU defense also stepped up, holding the Mavericks to 16-51 shooting (31.4 percent) and forcing 25 turnovers.

The next game for the Spartans is Thursday at Eastern Michigan, where MSU head coach Suzy Merchant used to be in charge.
