November 30, 2012

It was a night filled with career and season highs as the MSU women’s basketball team defeated North Carolina State 68-51 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge to improve to 6-0 for the fourth time in program history.

Junior forward Klarissa Bell led the Spartans with a career high 21 points as they never trailed, and held the 13th ranked offense (80.1 points per game) to just 51 points.

Senior guard Jasmine Thomas and junior forward Annalise Pickrel played all 40 minutes and contributed to the victory. Thomas set a new season high with 16 points and tied her season high with seven rebounds. Pickrel had 14 points.

Senior forward Courtney Schiffauer set yet another career high with five assists on the night, to lead the team in that department.

It was a game of streaks as MSU got out to a 21-3 lead in the first half. NC State owned the end of the first half and the first part of the second to lessen the gap to just one point.

The Spartans then went on a 23-5 run to seal the deal against the Wolfpack.

MSU looks to keep their perfect record when they take on Milwaukee at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Breslin Center.
