In the earliest election results from Google, at 7:30 p.m. Republican Mitt Romney leads President Barack Obama in three states where results were available. According to Google Politics, Romney leads Obama 52 percent to 47 percent.

In Indiana and Kentucky, Romney leads with 60 percent and 66 percent, respectively. In New Hampshire, Obama currently has 65.1 percent of the vote.

But less than 1 percent of the results were reported in each of these states, and polls have yet to close in most states.

Officials from 15 of the 17 East Lansing precinct locations reported 10,520 votes as of 5:15 p.m. — combined with the returned absentee voter ballots, that’s a 46.96% voter turnout.

The two remaining precincts, Brody Hall and St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3383 Lake Lansing Road, are two major locations, East Lansing City Clerk Marie McKenna said.

As the polls near closing time, McKenna said the numbers should increase an already large turnout significantly as many voters go to the polls after work.

“This is still a great turnout so far, without two of the biggest precincts,” McKenna said.

In Michigan, polls close at 8 p.m.
