High school students learn tricks of TV trade

July 18, 2012

“Take one, ready two. Take two, ready one.”

Inside the control room of Studio E in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building, about nine middle and high school students learned what it takes to become a TV producer.

The students attended MSU’s Television Production Camp, a five-day program where students learn the skills required to run a TV studio. Media arts and technology senior Eileen Zimmerman was a
teaching assistant and said the students improved dramatically.

“They are doing better than a lot of the kids who were in my class last semester,” Zimmerman said. “I am actually jealous of how quickly they are picking up everything.”
