Although summertime typically means spending time outdoors and enjoying the warm weather, not every day is full of sunshine and days spent at the beach.
On a day when the weather is less than enjoyable, spend some time inside and catch up on a few of TV’s most entertaining shows. This upcoming season is full of series — both old and new — that are just too good to miss.
From action-packed dramas to amusing sitcoms, this season’s lineup has a program for just about any TV lover.
“Louie” (FX, 10:30 p.m., Thursday, 13 episodes)
FX’s “Louie” is making its return to TV later this month with the premiere of the show’s third season on June 28.
“Louie” is written and directed by the Emmy Award-winning comedian Louis C.K. who portrays himself in the show, which details the many obstacles the single father is faced with in his day-to-day life.
Every episode features a scripted story broken up by segments of stand-up comedy performed by the star, making for a hilarious 30 minutes of TV.
“Breaking Bad” (AMC, 10 p.m., Sunday, 16 episodes)
The fifth and final season of the Emmy Award-winning drama series “Breaking Bad” will premiere July 15 on AMC.
The series stars actor Bryan Cranston and follows the life of his character, high school chemistry teacher Walter White, who enters a world of crime and drugs after being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.
Throughout the series, viewers are taken on a thrilling journey through White’s transformation from a family man to successful drug dealer and murderer.
“Pretty Little Liars” (ABC Family, 8 p.m., Tuesday, 23 episodes)
ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars,” a drama series based on the young-adult novels written by Sara Shepard, premiered its third season Tuesday night, just three months after its sophomore season finished up.
The show focuses on four young girls who join forces in order to prevent an anonymous individual from revealing their darkest secrets.
With confidential information the show’s characters are desperate to keep from getting out, threats that such knowledge might be revealed and a mysterious murder, “Pretty Little Liars” has all the key ingredients of a gripping TV show.
“Snooki and JWoww” (MTV, 10 p.m., Thursday, 12 episodes)
Fans of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” should be excited to hear about a spin-off series featuring two of the show’s stars that likely will be a suitable alternative to the reality program.
“Snooki and JWoww,” which will premiere June 21 on MTV, will follow the lives of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley as they embark on a journey outside of their home in Seaside Heights, N.J.
The show’s viewers are welcomed into the pair’s lives as they move in together and begin a new chapter of their life following numerous seasons on “Jersey Shore.”
