Golfers honored by coaches

June 7, 2012

Two MSU women’s golfers were honored by the National Golf Coaches Association, or NGCA, this week for their performances in the 2012 season that helped the Spartans win their second consecutive Big Ten championship and earn a berth in the NCAA Championship.

Junior Caroline Powers was chosen as an honorable mention All-American for the second time in two years. Her 73.78 scoring average this season was the second-best mark in school history, behind only herself. She set the record with a 73.53 average last year.

Powers also earned back-to-back first-team All-Big Ten honors this season.

Senior Lindsey Solberg ends her career at MSU by adding an all-region selection to a résumé that already includes three second-team All-Big Ten teams. She earned all-region honors by the NGCA previously as a freshman.
