Tornado watch in effect until 11 p.m.

Weather service: possibility of severe storms, isolated tornadoes

Update: 7:25 p.m.

No tornado warnings currently are in effect across lower Michigan, but a tornado watch remains in effect until 11 p.m. for Ingham County.

Additional thunderstorms are developing across West Michigan and are moving east.

Update: 6:55 p.m.

A tornado warning was in effect for Eaton County, which is directly west of East Lansing, but it has since been cancelled.

The storm still is expected to roll into the area within the next half hour.

Update: 6:35 p.m.

Numerous tornado warnings have been issued across southwest lower Michigan this afternoon, with a tornado warning currently in effect for Barry County. The National Weather Service said a tornado has been developing with this storm.

This storm is west of East Lansing.

The National Weather Service said one or more additional supercells might develop, and the tornadic potential could peak across the Lansing, Jackson and Flint areas between now and 8 p.m.

A tornado watch has been issued for Ingham County, including MSU, until 11 p.m. tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, tornadoes, hail up to an inch in diameter and wind gusts up to 70 mph are possible with any thunderstorms that develop.
