One week removed from its final meet at Jenison Field House, the MSU gymnastics team swept Alaska-Anchorage in a weekend series that saw the Spartans make the 3,795 mile hike to Wells Fargo Sports Complex in Anchorage.
On Friday night, the Spartans toppled the Seawolves 194.175-190.850 during a match that began at 11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
MSU was led by the performance of sophomore Alex Pace on balance beam, who scored a personal best and meet-high score of 9.900 on the event.
The Spartans took top marks in each event, including a top score of 9.725 on floor from freshman Ashley Noll, followed by a three-way MSU tie for second place with scores of 9.700.
On vault, MSU had two Spartans place in the event, with sophomore Taira Neal winning the event with a career-high score of 9.925, marking the third time she’s achieved the score.
Sophomore Dani Levy finished behind Neal in second place with a score of 9.700.
MSU followed up Friday’s win by posting a 195.425-192.625 victory over the Seawolves — its second highest mark of the season.
Once again, the Spartans swept the top spots in all four events, led by senior Jackie Berg, who took top honors in uneven parallel bars and floor routine, with scores of 9.850 in each.
The Spartans will return to action Friday when they travel to Ann Arbor to face rival Michigan in MSU’s final regular season match.
