Panel discusses Occupy Wall Street

January 11, 2012

To celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, students can participate in an interdisciplinary panel discussion called, “What Martin Luther King Would Say to Occupy Wall Street” from 7-9 p.m. Monday in 105 South Kedzie Hall.

The event’s panelists include English professors Terrion Williamson and Ken Harrow, philosophy professor Todd Hedrick, and Marshall Scholar and MSU student Rebecca Farnum.

The discussion, which is sponsored by the MSU College of Arts and Letters, will focus on what the Occupy Wall Street movement could learn from Martin Luther King’s point of view and touch on topics such as social and economic justice, nonviolent protest and the significance of race in the U.S.
