The MSU wrestling team received two National Letters of Intent, head coach Tom Minkel announced Wednesday.
Nick Trimble from Sparta, Mich., and Jordan Wohlfert from St. Johns, Mich., will join the program next season.
“Nick and Jordan are both very successful high school wrestlers and are really committed to Michigan State,” Minkel said in a release. “They’re really excited about wrestling here. We’re definitely looking forward to having them as a part of our program.
“Both Nick and Jordan are somewhat similar: They both have a great work ethic, they’re both very good athletes, and on top of that, they’re both very good students. We really feel it’s important to get good athletes and good students, and both Nick and Jordan bring great credentials on the mat and in the classroom.”
Trimble won the 2011 Division 2 state title in the 130-pound weight class and finished the season with a 51-1 record and brought his career record to 146-12.
Wohlfert is ranked No. 9 in the nation in the 160-pound weight class and won the Division 2 state title in the 152-pound class. He has a 173-11 career record entering his senior year of high school.
