Studio E

November 3, 2011

When Sean Hildebrandt came to MSU, he planned on putting his mathematics skills to use by double majoring in astrophysics and Japanese. However, Hildebrandt’s plans were turned upside down when he discovered MSU Telecasters.

“Telecasters gave me the inspiration to actually follow my dreams and not just what society tells me to be safe,” said the media information sophomore.

Hildebrandt acts as key grip, editor and assistant director for MSU Telecaster’s longest running program “The Show,” a sitcom which follows six underclassmen living in Wilson Hall.

He said he feels those involved in the production of the sitcom hold a significant advantage over students looking to learn production skills in the classroom.

“If you are in Telecasters, I know the standard of work you’ve signed yourself to,” he said.

The long hours and stressful nature of producing a television program have forged a family out of the cast and crew of “The Show.” As a freshman, Hildebrandt didn’t see himself becoming a key figure in the production of student television, but now he can’t imagine life without it.

“It’s insurmountable really, how fantastic Telecasters has been to me,” said Hildebrandt.
