A 21-year-old man was hospitalized after being assaulted at approximately 2:19 a.m. Oct. 30, in the alley behind Panchero’s Mexican Grill, 125 E. Grand River Ave.

Police responded after receiving reports of a fight behind the restaurant and found several males involved in an altercation.

According to the incident report, as the officers exited their vehicle, they witnessed a man, later identified as 22-year-old Ryan Ladale Taylor, punch the victim in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The officers tackled Taylor to the ground and arrested him for aggravated assault, but as they were doing this, Jessica Jonl Jones, 24, began punching the victim in the face while he was unconscious.

Jones subsequently was arrested.

The victim regained consciousness, but was taken to Sparrow Hospital, where he still was receiving medical treatment as of Tuesday afternoon, East Lansing police Capt. Bill Mitchell said.
