After breaking ground in March 2010, the $45 million Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum officially is set to open April 21, 2012, with a full slate of international exhibitions.
The opening is timed to coincide with simultaneous launches of art spaces in five countries, including Brazil and Turkey, according to a university press release.
The $45 million contemporary art museum will include exhibitions featuring artwork from the personal collection of alumnus Eli Broad and his wife, Edythe, as well as work from Kresge Art Museum collection.
“The Broad Art Museum at MSU will allow students to explore how artistic expression mirrors and shapes contemporary experience around the world,” MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon said in the statement.
