Men's soccer upsets No. 6 Akron

November 3, 2011

The MSU men’s soccer team was able to bring its record to .500 with a 1-0 win at No. 6 Akron on Wednesday night.

The Spartans (7-7-4 overall, 2-2-2 Big Ten) benefitted from a senior forward Rubin Bega goal with just 3:27 left on the clock and solid goalkeeping from senior Jeremy Clark, who had six saves in his second consecutive shutout.

The win snapped Akron’s 48-game home unbeaten streak, and MSU improved to 5-1-2 since Oct. 4.

The Spartans now are off until next Wednesday when the Big Ten Tournament begins in Ann Arbor.
