October 12, 2011

A 53-year-old Lansing man reported his backpack and a number of other items stolen from outside Beaumont Tower between 1-5 a.m., Oct. 7, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The man was walking to a friend’s home in East Lansing and decided to sit down and rest on a bench next to Beaumont Tower, McGlothian-Taylor said.

The man placed his backpack down next to the bench and proceeded to fall asleep.
When he woke up he found his $50 backpack was gone.

A black Samsung flip cell phone valued at $200 was in the backpack along with the man’s social security card.

There are no suspects, and the incident is under investigation.
