East Lansing Fire Department responds to a car fire on Wednesday afternoon on Evergreen Ave. No one was injured in the fire.

As communication junior Anna Karana drove toward her apartment on Evergreen Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, her gold Buick LeSabre stalled out halfway down the block.

Karana said she saw smoke coming from the engine. When police and fire officials arrived, the front of the car was engulfed in flames.

East Lansing firefighters responded and put the flames out within minutes, East Lansing fire Capt. Steve Peto said.

Peto and another firefighter pried the car’s hood open and extinguish the flames coming from the engine.

Peto said the fire most likely was gasoline-related.

Karana was able to exit the car without injury.
