Man accelerates wear, tear of park

July 27, 2011

An 88-year-old male from Lansing allegedly backed his car into a bench outside the Dairy Store between 5:30-6 p.m. July 25, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

A 26-year-old male student and a 66-year-old male employee said they saw the man accelerate and hit the bench, McGlothian-Taylor said.
The man allegedly hit the accelerator instead of the brakes.
No one was injured.

The bench was valued at $500.

The damage of the bench was not reported, but as of July 27, two seats on one of the benches outside of the store slightly were bent.
