In honor of the company’s 84th anniversary Monday, some customers who entered 7-Eleven, 918 E. Grand River Ave., greeted employees with, “Happy Birthday 7-Eleven.”
Every year, 7-Eleven stores give out free Slurpees on July 11, and the public response did not come up short at the East Lansing location with a line that extended into the parking lot.
The store’s owner Lisa Foss said that it was the busiest she had seen the store in years.
Foss and her employees took the occasion to even greater lengths by decorating the store in balloons and giving out free cake.
Although the store gave away free Slurpees, employee Connor Foss said the event helped business. Foss said this is the first year he’s worked on July 11.
“It’s busy but fun,” he said. “I enjoy it a lot.”
