Police Brief 06/01/11

Violated personal protection order results in court

May 31, 2011

A 25-year-old female student reported a violation of a personal protection order she had against a 25-year-old male student at about 3:30 p.m. on May 16, MSU police Sgt. Dan Mumford said.

The personal protection order required the suspect not to enroll in classes with the victim, Mumford said.

On the victim’s first day of class, she noticed the suspect was enrolled in the class with her. Neither students were aware they were enrolled in a class together until that point.

The victim notified the MSU Police Department and the incident has been referred to the Ingham County Circuit Court for review.

Members of the court will determine whether there has been a violation of the order.
