Stabbing trial moved to circuit court

April 19, 2011

The defense for MSU student, Ryan Ravary, waived his right to a preliminary examination in district court, and his trial now has been moved to circuit court.

Ravary faces four felony charges after he allegedly stabbed two other students repeatedly in their backs and sides Feb. 18.

According to court documents from 54-B District Court in East Lansing, Ravary was scheduled to appear in court again this morning. Because the preliminary exam was waived, his next appearance will be for his arraignment in circuit court, Ingham County Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor Catherine Emerson said.

Don Martin, Ravary’s defense attorney, could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
