Student chases bike thief, comes up empty handed

A 20-year-old female MSU student reported her bicycle stolen Tuesday near a trail on the west side of Bogue Street, MSU police Sgt. Dan Munford said.

The woman left her silver, Schwinn Frontier brand bike unattended on the trail for about 20 minutes. When she returned, she noticed a man riding away on the bike, Munford said.

The suspect was described as a black male, college-aged wearing a red T-shirt and green backpack. The woman ran after him until she lost sight near Taco Bell, 601 E. Grand River Ave.

Although MSU police have concluded their investigation, any witnesses are encouraged to contact the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety at (517) 355-2221.
