Voter registration deadline July 6

June 23, 2010

July 6 is the final day for Michigan citizens to register to be able to vote in the Aug. 3 primaries.

Voters must be at least 18 years old by election day, U.S. citizens, residents of Michigan and residents of the city or township in which they wish to vote.

Applicants can register at their county, city or township clerk’s office, either by mail or by visiting any Secretary of State branch office. The mail-in form can be found at michigan.gov/sos, but voters who register by mail must vote in person for their first election.

For voters who cannot be at the polls Aug. 3, absentee ballots are available. Applications to receive a ballot by mail must be submitted by 2 p.m. July 31. Voters who wish to pick up their absentee ballot in person can do so at any time until 4 p.m. Aug. 2.

For more information or to check your registration status, visit michigan.gov/vote.
