Update 4:42 p.m.:Various reports surfaced that Izzo met with men’s basketball team Friday. Subject of meeting reportedly is sizing Big Ten rings. Former center Tom Herzog came out of Breslin Center and told reporters that the team had their rings sized a while ago. Says, “I don’t know,” to other questions. MSU Athletics director Mark Hollis comes out shortly after and says he has no comments.

Update 2:30 p.m.: Following reports of a possible meeting between the MSU Board of Trustees to discuss Izzo, Trustee Donald Nugent said he hasn’t heard of any such meeting.

“I don’t expect to hear anything,” Nugent said. “Coach will make any announcement he’s going to make when he’s ready, but I’ve heard nothing.”

Update 1:45 p.m.: Indiana head basketball coach and former Tom Izzo assistant Tom Crean released a YouTube video to answer several questions. Crean said he talked to Izzo Thursday but did not know what Izzo’s final decision would be.

“He’ll do what’s best for him, best for his family, best for his growth as a coach and I’m sure he’ll make the right decision,” Crean said.

Crean has been brought up as a possible replacement should Izzo leave but Crean said he is at Indiana.

“I’m at Indiana, it doesn’t make any difference what job opens up in the country.”
