Led by strong performances by both of its varsity eight boats, the MSU women’s rowing team finished ninth at the 2010 Championship Regatta on Sunday in Sacramento, Calif.
All three of the Spartans’ boats were in the petite finals, meaning they could do no better than seventh place.
MSU’s varsity eight took advantage of the opportunity it had and won the petite final Sunday morning with second-place Brown more than a boat length away, giving it a seventh place finish overall.
Meanwhile, the second varsity eight boat placed third in the petite final, good enough for ninth overall, which was five spots better than its 15th place seeding.
In the varsity four petite final, the Spartans came across the line in sixth and finished 12th overall.
