Campus organizations elections end

April 8, 2010

Spring elections for campus organizations concluded at noon Thursday.

After a computer glitch caused polls to close early Monday, MSU officials reopened voting Thursday for four student governance bodies: ASMSU, Council of Graduate Students, or COGS, Owen Graduate Association and Council of Medical Students.

ASMSU is MSU’s undergraduate student government.

Twenty representatives were elected for spots in ASMSU’s Academic and Student assemblies.

At Student Assembly’s Thursday meeting, new representatives were seated for the first time.

Monica Shammas, Student Assembly’s Arab Cultural Society representative, was named chairman of the group’s policy committee. Noah Berger, Student Assembly’s representative for the Eli Broad College of Business, was named vice chairperson of the policy committee.

Results released by ASMSU indicated 4,823 students voted in the organization’s spring elections.
