MSU’s Debate Team was crowned national champions Tuesday after participating in the five-day National Debate Tournament.
After two hours of debate during the final round, the MSU team beat fellow Big Ten competitor Northwestern University.

Political theory and constitutional democracy senior Carly Wunderlich and international relations junior Eric Lanning were unanimously voted winners Tuesday when MSU’s team was named champions.
On their road to the championship, the team also beat the University of Kansas, the University of Mary Washington in Virginia and Emory University, which entered the tournament ranked No. 1.
The MSU team has won the honor three times in the past seven years.
