Okemos to host Halloween event

October 12, 2009

Locals looking for a safe place to celebrate Halloween can head to downtown Okemos on Oct. 31 for the “Pumpkins and Pottery” event.

From 1 to 3 p.m., residents can participate in a trick-or-treat competition and costume contest at the Meridian Activity Center parking lot, located at 4675 Okemos Road.

And for furry friends looking to enjoy the fall festivities, there will be a dog parade led by McGruff the Crime Dog and hosted by the Red Cedar Animal Hospital, 2245 Mount Hope Road, in Okemos.

Parade participants should meet at 1 p.m at Wonch Park, 4555 Okemos Road, for an animal costume contest. The parade will begin at 2 p.m.

Throughout the day, both people and animals are encouraged to trick or treat at participating Okemos businesses.
