MSU will receive $2.5 million from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy for research on clean energy technologies for motor vehicles.
The funds, which total more than $5.1 million were announced by Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., Monday.
The General Motors Company in Warren, Mich., will receive about $2.6 million of the funds.
MSU will put the money toward research into wave disc engine technology. The engine could take the place of generators for some hybrid electric vehicles.
