Students angered by ticket problems

March 30, 2009

The Izzone’s wristband admission system is experiencing flaws, making the student section increasingly crowded, ASMSU officials said.

ASMSU is MSU’s undergraduate student government.

Upon entering a home game, students are given a wristband, signifying their admittance into the section. Students are taking advantage of this flexible system by bringing other people to the game, sliding off their wristbands and allowing their friends to use them for admittance, officials said.

This takes space away from Izzone students that are originally meant to be present and overpopulates the section.

“Pretty much, the Izzone is getting extremely crowded from that,” said Kyle Dysarz, ASMSU’s vice chairperson for external affairs.

On Thursday, ASMSU’s Student Assembly unanimously voted to adopt a bill to collaborate with the Student Alumni Foundation, or SAF, in order to combat this issue.

The first step of the act is to speak with SAF members and establish suggestions on bettering admission policies.

ASMSU also will speak with the athletics department in order to enforce stricter entrance policies.

“We have some good connections in the athletic department,” said Mike Webber, ASMSU’s student assembly chairperson.

ASMSU worked with the athletics department last year to combat similar problems regarding entry into football games.
