Berkeley, Calif. — A last-second shot attempt didn’t fall for the MSU women’s basketball team, who dropped its Sweet 16 game to Iowa State, 69-68.

The Spartans surrendered a 68-61 lead with just over a minute to play as Iowa State fought back with a full-court press and a continued 3-point barrage.

MSU had the ball with seven seconds left and junior forward Aisha Jefferson missed a short lay-up off the glass. Redshirt freshman forward Lykendra Johnson’s putback attempt did not go and the buzzer sounded before the Cyclones rushed the floor.

Junior center Allyssa DeHaan scored 24 points for MSU, while Iowa State’s Alison Lacey had a game-high 29.
