Police academy to graduate 24

March 16, 2009

The East Lansing Citizens’ Police Academy will be holding its graduation at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Courtroom 2 of the 54-B District Court, 101 Linden St.

The ceremony will honor 24 East Lansing citizens for completing an 11-week program designed to encourage knowledge of the workings of the East Lansing Police Department.

Participants in the program learned how ELPD conducts law enforcement for the city, including use of force, patrol procedures, community policing, hiring and training procedures and criminal investigations. Participants also took part in ride-alongs with police and other hands-on activities.

This is the 10th graduating class of the Citizens’ Police Academy.
