Buy American if looking for solution to economic woes of auto industry

As more and more articles emerge relating to the ever-slumping auto industry in Michigan, I cannot help but notice how many nice, new foreign cars drive through campus. There must come a point where we stop expecting immediate results from our government, and instead take responsibility of our own to catalyze a 180-degree turn for Michigan’s whimpering industry.

Can we, whether through advocating or by igniting conversation, discuss how America needs to encourage purchasing locally made vehicles, rather than caving into the likes of our global auto nemeses?

I believe that Americans, especially in this economic slump, need to look after their own. I am sure you or someone you know will be in the market for a new vehicle in the coming months, so why not emphasize buying American? Though it may be easy to high-five one’s local Nissan dealer and drive off in an Altima, I suggest that we all take responsibility and advocate the purchase of a vehicle that will contribute to mending our wounded economy.

So, “woers” of our bruised economy, lay the ground work conversationally, then most importantly: Act on it.
