2nd ASMSU official resigns

Student Assembly internal vice chairperson cited personal reasons for resignation

February 20, 2009

Another ASMSU official announced his resignation at a Student Assembly meeting Thursday.

Garrett Faulk stepped down as internal vice chairperson of Student Assembly, citing personal reasons.

“It was just a lot of different reasons, mostly my academics,” he said.

ASMSU is MSU’s undergraduate student government.

Faulk is the second ASMSU official to resign this week. Former Academic Assembly Chairperson Christopher Kulesza resigned Tuesday.

Kulesza’s resignation came a week after an assembly member proposed a bill to review his performance due to communication issues.

Faulk also is the fundraising chair of the North American Indigenous Student Organization and works a part-time job with a construction company in Fraser, Mich.

Faulk officially will step down Feb. 27 and said he hopes a general assembly member will take his place.

“I want to give the new internal vice chair a good ground to start on,” he said. “Hopefully I’ll get some people to come in next week, people who are interested can shadow me for a couple days.”

Faulk also warned that the job is a big commitment but offered to help his replacement as much as he can.

“I just hope that it is somebody who is really dedicated because it takes a lot of dedication,” he said. “I was ready for this position and I have to resign because of conflicts of time.”

ASMSU holds elections on April 21.
