MSU police find knife in Lansing man’s vehicle

A 31-year-old Lansing man was arrested by MSU police for two outstanding warrants from Lansing police before it was discovered he had a large knife in his vehicle, MSU police Sgt. Paul Kuchek said.

The man initially was pulled over near the intersection of Mount Hope Road and Farm Lane for having expired tags on his license plate. It was also discovered he was driving with a suspended license, which he did not have with him, Kuchek said. During a search of his vehicle, a knife with a large blade was found in a place where it was accessible to the driver. The man did not have a concealed weapons permit for the knife, Kuchek said.

MSU police charged him with four counts of carrying a concealed weapon, improper registration of the vehicle and no license on person before turning him over to the Lansing police. He had no affiliation with MSU and the vehicle was not stolen, Kuchek said.
