The results of an autopsy conducted this afternoon to determine what caused the death of 22-year-old MSU senior Don Ausman were inconclusive.
Ingham County chief medical examiner Dean Sienko said his office is conducting toxicology reports, the results of which are still pending.
“We are not releasing cause and manner of death per further investigation,” Sienko said. “We just need to do some more tests before we can release that information publicly.”
MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said Thursday police had no further information regarding the investigation.
Ausman, an interdisciplinary studies in social science and international studies senior, was found dead Wednesday morning in his Spartan Village apartment.
Police have released no information regarding the cause of death, preferring to leave the case classified as a “suspicious death” at this point, McGlothian-Taylor said Thursday.
Doug Merian, a sophomore packaging major who befriended Ausman earlier this year, said news of Ausman’s passing hasn’t sunk in yet.
“Every time we (Merian and his roommates, who also knew Ausman) hear about it, we just can’t believe it happened,” Merian said. “We didn’t see him every day … but we still don’t really realize he’s gone. It hasn’t sunk in 100 percent yet.”
