Muslim students to hold events this week
The Muslim Students Association, or MSA, is sponsoring Islamic Awareness Week from Monday through Friday for students to enjoy a week of Islamic-related events.
An interfaith film screening will be shown tonight at 7 p.m. in room 115 of the International Center. The documentary “Talking Through Walls: How the Struggle to Build a Mosque Unites a Community,” tells how a rural U.S. town dealt with a growing Muslim community after Sept. 11, 2001.
At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Lake Huron Room of the Union, MSA will host a Gender in Islam event titled “The Truth Behind the Veil,” co-sponsored by the Women’s Resource Center.
The week of events will wrap up on Thursday at the rock on Farm Lane, where students and community members can join MSA for Arabic calligraphy, food, drinks and entertainment from 12-5:30 p.m.
