CATA millage, other proposals might raise cost of living in E.L.

College students from Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties should vote “no” on the 19 local proposals in the tri-county area for new taxes, increased taxes and renewals. If your parents help fund your education, they will have less money to give you if the millages pass today.

Students who pay rent will have less money to spend as a result of so many property tax increases. Higher property taxes mean higher rents and higher prices because businesses and landlords will pass on their higher taxes to you.

College students, keep what little money you have to pay for your increasing education costs and the higher cost of living.

The surefire way to turn a recession into a depression is by raising taxes for whatever reasons, including Capital Area Transportation Authority’s 36 percent increase or Ingham County’s underhanded 6.24 percent increase.

Do the right thing. Vote with your heads, not your hearts today.

Keep your money. You’re going to need it for tuition increases and to pay for the higher costs of everything.

Vote “no” on the millages.
