Lecture tonight to address education

November 23, 2008

The Department of Residence Life will kick off its lecture series at 7 p.m. tonight in the Spartan Village Community Center South Lounge, 1460 Middlevale Road.

Today’s discussion will bring a panel of three professionals in the education industry and focus on education in the U.S. and the world, journalism junior Etienne Fields said.

The speakers will be David Smith, an administrator for the Michigan Department of Education; Pierre Balthazar, a Lansing Eastern High School teacher and Heather Simon, an eighth-grade English teacher at Holt Middle School.

Fields said he hopes the discussion will leave students interested in how they are affected by education.

The discussion is free to MSU students and refreshments will be provided.

Other lectures, beginning in late January, will include medical technology and performing arts.
