While “bending the rules” might get you a colorful and eclectic room and an article in the State News featuring your dorm room (SN style: Dormmates bend rules to create unique space, SN 10/14), it might also however, get you a serious fine upwards of $1,700 and several slaps on the wrist.
Our featured article was published two weeks ago about how we painted the walls of our dorm, wrote in sharpie all over everything and generally made our room eccentric and expressive. However, we felt it was necessary to convey a warning to future or current dorm residents regarding painting their walls: Don’t.
While you may have every intention of painting it back at the end of the academic year, trust us when we say that your good intentions will probably get you nowhere if you are caught violating your housing contract.
And if you choose to disregard our warning, which we most certainly advise against, try not to publish a major article in the school newspaper dissecting every detail of your deviance.
