Lecture series features radiology chairman

October 14, 2008

Radiology Department Chairman James Potchen will give a presentation at 7 p.m. today at Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre.

The presentation, entitled “A Journey With Purpose: My First 50 Years in Academia,” will highlight experiences from Potchen’s medical career, which includes work at Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University. Potchen has also taught at MSU in the Lyman Briggs College and is an MSU distinguished professor.

The event kicks off MSU’s “Last Lecture” series, which is based on Carnegie Mellon University professor Randy Pausch’s “Last Lecture.” Pausch’s speech, given while he was terminally ill, discussed what wisdom he wished he could impart to the world if given a last chance.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and admission is free.
