19-year-old man sentenced for riots

A 19-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 days in the Ingham County Jail for his participation in April’s Cedar Fest riot.

Sabah Homasi, who was convicted of public fighting, was sentenced by Judge David L. Jordon in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court. Homasi, formerly of Southgate, lives in Florida.

Homasi also was placed on 24 months’ probation and is required to pay $2,294.40 in fines and costs.

Of those fees, $1,074.40 is restitution to the city of East Lansing for police expenses, emergency services and property damage.

The court also issued an order requiring Homasi to complete an anger management program. He also was prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol and illegal drugs.

Homasi is prohibited from entering or enrolling in any Michigan public community college or university campus for a year.
