Take a peek behind the curtain and test drive the NEW StateNews.com today!

All facts about candidates must be presented to be fair

As a fifth-year senior acquiring a second bachelor’s degree, I can no longer tolerate the liberal monarchy that runs rampant on the Red Cedar. To those disbelievers, simply gaze over to the political cartoon and you will understand. As a Spartans fan and Lansing resident since my very first diaper, I love everything about MSU. But the madness has got to stop.

I hold The State News most accountable. Every single day I open the fold to find yet another article about ‘change.’ But before I decide to hop on the ‘Obamawagon,’ I’m going to look carefully at both sides of the spectrum.

Cartoons are funny, and I appreciate a little humor now and then, but belittling and mocking the GOP exclusively is a tactless way to attract voters. Let’s see something different (please).

I want to see the facts. I haven’t seen more than one article actually comparing the candidate’s qualifications since they started campaigning last year. I would like to see a comparison of achievements and voting history reported. Tell me something about Republican presidential nominee John McCain, instead of President George W. Bush — they are different. I want information about Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s policies while in office in Illinois or to see some of the accomplishments of Sen. Joe Biden or Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin or discuss the history of each candidate.

This election is rapidly approaching, and these next four years are paramount for our great nation. It would be nice to see both sides of the coin before we cast our ballots. I’ll see you in November.
