Stabenow will address Farm Bill

May 18, 2008

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., will be on campus today to address the Farm Bill, which will provide $290 billion to farm subsidies, nutrition programs and research funding.

Stabenow will speak at a press conference with MSU officials about how the bill will impact MSU and the state, beginning at 11 a.m. in the MSU Hancock Turfgrass Research Center.

The Farm Bill, officially named the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008, passed the Senate with a veto-proof 81-15 majority, despite President George W. Bush’s expected veto of the plan.
