MSUFCU donates $2.5M to Wharton

May 19, 2008

The MSU Federal Credit Union announced today its $2.5 million donation to Wharton Center to help fund the new Institute for Arts & Creativity.

MSUFCU’s donation is the lead gift in Wharton Center’s capital campaign to raise $11 million. To date, $6.5 million has been raised.

The new institute will provide participatory learning programs at Wharton Center and throughout Michigan for audiences of all ages. It will also include a collaborative program in which artists will stay on campus and in the community, and share their expertise and insights with participants, according to a university press release.

Programs will include lecture demonstrations, master classes, career development discussions and opportunities for one-on-one and group mentoring.

Advancements to Wharton Center will include state-of-the-art technology necessary for long-distance learning broadcasts, providing thousands of children the opportunity to participate in arts education initiatives throughout the state.
